Murata Type 1CS Dev kit (LBAD0XX1SC-DMSB-EVK-B) new user experience.

Hi All,
I’m new to the forum and thought I might share my thoughts.
I recently purchased and received the Murata Type 1CS Dev kit (LBAD0XX1SC-DMSB-EVK-B) through Monogoto.

All is good.

I’ve commenced development integration into my project and worked through Laurens’ video and the guides.
I’ve joined my.Murata as suggested, to retrieve as much information as a I can on the dev Kit.

These are some observations:

The Dev Kit I received contains a Type 1SC device with firmware RK_03_02_00_00_41841_001.

It is important to follow the set up guides appropriate for the firmware version. I headed down the wrong path initially.

The AT Command Reference available through my.Murata is V1.2 from August 2024, and does not seem to cover the capabilities of the latest firmware. It seems to be a year out of date.

It doesn’t cover use of the GPS/GNSS for obtaining a fix prior to connecting to the satellite, which makes it hard to develop integration software with certainty.

By “Googling” for the missing AT commands I found another AT guide which seems to fill in the blanks. we-online.com/components/media/o691492v410 Manual-um-acm-adrastea-i-2615011136000 %28rev1.2%29.pdf

I do not know the relationship between Murata and Würth Elektronik, but the AT Command set they describe seems match the Murata Type 1SC device with firmware RK_03_02_00_00_41841_001, at least for the information I was looking for. I can now move forward with integration.

Laurens’ videos are great, and they are the reason I am using Monogoto. The videos refer the internal eSIM, rather the external SIM supplied. The device was provisioned on my account for the external SIM, so this is by far the easiest path to follow.

It is disappointing that Murata don’t provide a schematic diagram of the dev kit, and I don’t understand the logic in withholding information that would encourage greater usage. I’m going to have to reverse engineer it partially to understand the details of how to power it. I’d like to use 3V3, but may need to use 5V. If anyone has the schematic of the Dev kit I’d be grateful to see it. The dev kit is physically compact, but it is interesting that it does not include mounting holes. I’ll need to clamp it down in some way to deploy it.

Hi John,

Thanks for sharing your comments. I understand from your message that you managed to make it work, that’s great!

I’ve noted down some of your feedback, will try to clarify the docs to emphasize validating the firmware version, and the use of internal/external SIM.

Unfortunately, I don’t have details/schematics of the devkit myself. These questions are best to be addressed to Murata directly, hopefully they can provide you with some information.

Best of luck, and keep us posted about your progress!
